Nature Trails & Above Ground

Walk the ancient forest paths that wind over Aokigahara's hardened volcanic terrain.

Photo: tour listing on Viator

Aokigahara features a network of marked trails over the 30-square-kilometer primeval forest. These paths guide you safely across the porous basalt lava rock left by Mount Fuji's 864 CE eruption.

Because the terrain is uneven and deep holes exist off the main routes, you must stay on designated paths. The forest trails are free to enter.
